THE DEPARTMENT of Education in General Santos City joined the annual Parada ng Lahi which is part of the celebration of the 2023 Kalilangan Festival and the 34th Founding Anniversary of the city.

DepEd-GenSan said that the celebration promotes cultural sensitivity, respect for cultural diversity, and a deeper understanding of the cultural expressions of the tri-people of GenSan.

The Parada ng Lahi reflects the equitable educational opportunities provided by the DepEd to students through the establishment of a multicultural environment across the entire institution.

The festival highlighted the numerous and varied cultures of the city’s native inhabitants, Muslims, and Christians.

“The diversity of my learners challenged me a lot on how I can promote learning without biases in terms of their culture and religion,” said Sittie Riah Danial, Teacher I of the Datu Dumagkal Danial ES, who teaches Muslim, IP, and Christian learners.

“I am just thankful enough that DepEd offers the curriculum and programs that fit the need of my learners. I also served myself as an example that no matter who you are, what is your status in life, and how different you are from other people, it will not hinder you to reach your aspirations in life,” Danial added.
