DEPED-GENSAN FAST-TRACKS DISTRIBUTION OF LEARNING MODULES

/ 24 September 2020

THE CITY division of the Department of Education in General Santos City is fast-tracking the distribution of learning modules so that these materials can reach learners before the opening of classes.

Division Superintendent Romelito Flores said that the distribution of modules for public students from elementary to senior high school in 26 villages is ongoing

He said officials aim to complete the distribution before the opening of classes on October 5.

“I directed our schools to release ahead of the first three weeks the learning modules to limit the exposure of parents,” Flores said.

He reported that some schools enforced a “no-contact” policy in the distribution of modules. Two schools, meanwhile, implemented a “drive-thru” system where parents would pick up the modules in designated places in the campus.

Barangay officials are assisting in the distribution of the modules to ensure that these will reach the recipients. Barangay officials also deployed teams to monitor the release of the modules and identify those who have not yet received them.

For the other modalities such as online and blended learning, Flores said the assigned teachers have completed their preparations.

The city government allocated around P150 million for the implementation of the alternative learning modes this school year.
