DEPED CAR DISTRIBUTES SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO STUDENTS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education’s office in the Cordillera Administrative Region distributed tablets, grocery packs, school supplies and health kits to 43 poor students.
DepEd CAR Regional Director Estela Cariño and OIC-Assistant Regional Director Florante Vergara led the distribution of the supplies under the project Salaknib Tan Namnama.
“Each learner-beneficiary has a sponsor that pledges a certain amount weekly or monthly and collected by the set of officers of Project Salaknib Tan Namnama. The total amount out of the pledges will be used to provide more assistance to the learners in the future and until they graduate from basic education,” Cariño said.
She asked the parents and guardians to continue guiding and encouraging their children “because it takes everybody not only DepEd to help the learners achieve their dreams.”
Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas lauded DepEd for the initiative and for choosing Benguet as its pilot area for the project.
“This pandemic made us realize a lot of things and one is the importance of finishing at least basic education because it will get you further and put you in a better place,” Diclas said.
