CEBU Governor Gwendolyn Garcia issued a memorandum to the Department of Education and local chief executives covered by the province of Cebu regarding the cancellation of classes starting April 5.

This is due to the hot weather being experienced in the province.

The memo will remain in effect until Garcia’s issuance of another order rescinding it.

“Due to the unusually high heat index in Cebu province, posing a risk to the well-being of our students, all classes are suspended until further notice,” stated in Memorandum No. 22-2024.

Since April 2, several mayors in Cebu have declared the cancellation of face-to-face classes while blended learning modality is being implemented in other schools.
