CAVITE STATE U PARTNERS WITH DILG ON DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

/ 26 December 2020

THE DEPARTMENT of Languages and Mass Communication of the Cavite State University forged a partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Region IV-A to promote community resiliency and disaster preparedness.

The project aims to create disaster preparedness communications materials for local government units.

“It also aims to enhance the capability of two barangays in developing the said materials and publishing them on their respective Facebook pages,” the university said.

The project is headed by Charmaine Lopez and coordinated with Dean of College of Arts and Sciences Dr. Bettina Joyce Ilagan, and Extension Coordinator for BA Journalism Kimmi Dane Jimenez.

“As one of the Local Resource Institute partners of DILG IV-A, Journalism faculty members participated in the series of workshops with officials and selected community members of Brgy. Panapaan V in Bacoor and Brgy Mediccion II-D in Imus, Cavite,” CVSU said.

The university said barangay officials shared their disaster risk reduction and management plans while faculty members gave insights on how to better communicate to the residents through social media.
