STUDENTS in Baguio City appealed for academic break to give them a brief respite from their online studies.
A post on social media by student council presidents cited the students’ “draining” experience amid the implementation of distance learning.
They called on schools to give attention to students’ mental health as they cited the increasing suicide cases in the city.
“Give the students the rest that they badly need. We demand educational excellence, not education strain,” the statement read.
“Hence, the University of the Cordilleras University Student Council together with the other student councils in Baguio City forwarded a letter requesting a city-wide academic break to the Baguio City Council,” it added.
The signatories are student leaders from the University of Baguio, Saint Louis University, University of Cordilleras, University of the Philippines – Baguio, and National Union of the Students of the Philippines – Cordillera.
