BACOLOD MAYOR SUSPENDS CLASSES DUE TO EXTREME HEAT

BACOLOD City Mayor Albee Benitez has suspended the classes for two days in public and private schools from March 11 to 12, due to extreme heat.

Benitez said that this was in response to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s forecast of a high heat index on the said dates.

The EO cited PAGASA’s forecast on March 11 and 12, 2024 the heat index will reach as high as 41 and 40 degrees Celcius, respectively.

Benitez said that it is for the safety and welfare of the students.

Students in elementary and secondary levels are encouraged to adopt alternative delivery modes as methods of instruction for their students, while the decision for the tertiary level is at the discretion of their respective colleges or university administrators, according to the Executive Order.
