ANTIQUE HIRES 726 PARA-TEACHERS TO HELP LEARNERS
TO BETTER improve the delivery of distance learning, the Department of Education, in coordination with the local government of Antique and Department of Labor, hired 726 para-teachers to assist public school students in the next three months.
Donnabelle Baldonado, DOLE-Antique provincial office information officer, said that the hiring started on March 1, 2021.
The para-teachers receive a daily wage of P395.
They conduct home visits to tutor learners in elementary and high school.
The hiring of para-teachers Is part of the Government Internship Program of the DOLE.
“It is a government-run program that aims to employ youth aged 18-30 for a three to a six-month internship opportunity to pursue work in the public service sector, both local and national government units,” Baldonado said.
DepEd regional director Ramir Uytico said that the local government of Antique initiated the hiring of the para-teachers.
“From September 1 to December 15, 2020, the DOLE Antique provincial office hired 700 para-teachers to assist the DepEd learners. The para-teachers were assigned to all the 590 barangays of Antique and the DepEd district offices,” Uytico said.
