AT LEAST 242 scholars under the Access to Higher and Modern Education-Scholarship Program of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao received P30,000 for Academic Year 2020-2021.

Minister Mohagher Iqbal of the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education said that higher education is important for Bangsamoro learners.

“For instance, students acquire a broad range of skills that can qualify them for a broader range of career choices in different fields and offer them more room for personal and professional advancement,” Iqbal said.

He noted that the ministry recognizes higher education as one of the critical drivers of growth performance and competitiveness in national and global economies.

“That is why the MBHTE is fully committed to advancing higher education due to its impact on the Bangsamoro economy and society,” he said.

Iqbal said that the allowances for other scholars from Lanao del Sur, Marawi City, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Basilan and Lamitan City will be released soon.

The 250 scholars from Maguindanao received their allowances on Friday, July 16.

Over all, a total of 1,298 AHME scholars in the Bangsamoro region are entitled to receive P60,000 each per year.
