YOUTH GROUP REITERATES CALL FOR SAFE REOPENING OF SCHOOLS
“MALLS have now opened, but what about our schools?”
“MALLS have now opened, but what about our schools?”
This was the lament of Rise for Education as it reiterated its call to end the “inaccessible and inequitable” distance learning setup.
“2021 has nearly passed completely, but there is barely any change when it comes to our learning setup. In a land of hopelessness, students continue to ask for funding and academic ease left and right, but are these all the solutions we can attain?” the youth group said in a statement.
It again called for the safe reopening of schools.
To achieve this, the group urged the government to ensure that learning spaces are conducive for study, safety protocols and facilities are in place, subsidies and medical funds are available for educators and staff; and health support services are available.
“We heed to the call of the students! Rise for Education supports the Safe School Reopening Bill as we stand behind every individual in the education sector,” the group said.
“We hope and call for comprehensive plans and actions to make education accessible and inclusive to all sectors,” it added.
