PALACE SUSPENDS GOV’T WORK, CLASSES DUE TO ‘ULYSSES’

MALACAÑANG has suspended work in government offices and classes in all levels in public schools in Metro Manila and other regions.
The suspension took effect today until tomorrow, Nov. 12, because of the threat posed by typhoon Ulysses.
A Memorandum Circular signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea suspended work and classes in Regions 2, 3, 5, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Cordillera Administrative Region, and National Capital Region starting at 3 p.m.
Exempted from the work suspension are agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and performance of other vital services.
The suspension of work and classes in private agencies and schools was left to the discretion of their respective heads.
Earlier, some local officials suspended classes today due to typhoon Ulysses.
Camarines Norte Gov. Edgardo Tallado suspended classes in all levels in public and private schools, including online and modular, after the weather bureau placed the province under signal number 2.
Camarines Sur Gov. Migz Villafuerte also ordered the suspension of classes in all levels until November 15 in consideration of students and teachers who do not have access to electricity and internet connection.
The other local government units that suspended classes are:
- Plaridel, Bulacan: face-to-face classes, online classes, other blended learning modalities in all levels.
- Meycuayan, Bulacan: pre-school to senior high school
- Cagayan: all levels, public and private.
- Taguig City: kindergarten, elementary and high school.
- Parañaque City: all levels, public and private schools.
- Pasig City: all levels, public and private schools.
- Manila City: kindergarten, elementary, and high school.
Meanwhile, schools that suspended classes are:
- Ateneo de Manila University: kindergarten, elementary and high school
- University of Santo Tomas Senior High School: synchronous classes
- FEU High School, Manila: synchronous and asynchronous classes
- Lyceum of the Philippines, Manila: online classes to senior high school
- OB Montessori Center: Advanced Casa to Grade 12
- Quezon City Academy: online classes
- San Roque Catholic School: all levels
- San Sebastian Cathedral School of Tarlac: kindergarten to high school, synchronous and asynchronous classes
- Holy Angel University: online classes in all levels
- University of Perpetual Las Piñas Campus: elementary, junior high school and senior high school.
- UP Diliman: synchronous classes.
The weather bureau said ‘Ulysses’ could intensify into a typhoon within the next 12 hours.
