/ 4 November 2020

THE TECHNICAL Education and Skills Development Authority inaugurated a regional training center in the national capital region to provide training for overseas Filipino workers and other scholars.

TESDA Secretary General Isidro Lapeña led the inauguration of the TESDA-NCR Regional Training Center’s assessment facility for Ships Catering Services NCI.

The facility is the first assessment center established to offer the course.

There are about 181 TTIs nationwide.

During the event, TESDA also assessed 10 outbound overseas Filipino workers. It also held the training induction program for 340 TESDA scholars who will take different courses from the six TESDA district offices in Metro Manila.

TESDA-NCR Regional Director Florencio Sunico Jr. said the scholars will take courses such as Contact Tracing Level II, Barangay Health Services, Bread and Pastry Production, Contact Center Services, Photography, Web Development, Computer Servicing, and Mechatronics.

Lapeña commended the TESDA-NCR for being one of the first regional offices to organize important training programs and initiatives during the pandemic.

“Once again, we have demonstrated that given a critical task in the service of the country using our mandate, we could be trusted to deliver – and deliver fast results,” he said.

The TESDA chief also congratulated the scholars and encouraged them to study hard.

“I hope that all of you will complete your training. Your scholarship is the government’s investment in human resources. At this time of pandemic, not everyone is given this access to government programs, so please put value to this training,” Lapeña said.
