TEACHERS’ GROUP LIST DOWN RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IRR OF KABALIKAT SA PAGTUTURO ACT
THE Alliance of Concerned Teachers Philippines and Act Teachers Partylist have outlined several key points they will recommend for inclusion in the formulation of the Implementing Rules and Regulations for the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act.
The group participated in the meeting for the drafting of the IRR of the newly enacted law granting P10,000 teaching supplies allowance for public school teachers starting the School Year 2025-2026 and thereafter.
They stressed that teaching allowance shall be considered as an outright expense and presentation or submission of any kind of report shall not be required.
At the same time, the teachers’ group suggested that a P500 medical allowance will be excluded from the annual P10,000 teaching allowance, and thus will be given separately.
They added that head teachers and school heads with teaching load will also receive a teaching supplies allowance as defined by the guidelines.
The group also stressed that those who are found guilty of any offense in connection with their work and meted the penalty in the previous school year will not be excluded from receiving the teaching allowance as they are also entitled to their benefits.
And, lastly, they emphasized that teaching allowance shall be given no later than the official start of the school year.
“Again, we laud the passage of the law through collective action and persistent lobbying of public school teachers and ACT Philippines, and with the relentless legislative efforts of our genuine representative in Congress, Act Teachers Party-list representatives, Rep. France Castro and Rep. Antonio Tinio,” the group said.
