SOLON SEEKS P15K ANNUAL CASH ASSISTANCE FOR NON-TEACHING PERSONNEL OF DEPED
BATANGAS Second District Representative Gerville Luistro is pushing for a measure increasing the cash assistance for non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education.
In her House Bill 11266, the solon seeks for an annual P15,000 cash assistance to qualified non-teaching personnel in recognition of their honest and diligent work in supporting the educational system.
Luistro said non-teaching personnel of the DepEd play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of schools, yet they often face financial challenges due to insufficient compensation.
“These workers, who include administrative staff, janitors, security personnel, and other support roles, contribute significantly to the overall functioning of the education system,” Luistro said in her explanatory note.
The solon stressed that the salaries of non-teaching personnel have not kept pace with the rising cost of living, inflation, and other socio-economic pressures.
“As a result, many struggle to meet their basic needs, which can negatively affect their job satisfaction and performance,” the lawmaker added.
She further emphasized that offering cash assistance to non-teaching personnel is a necessary step in recognizing and valuing their contributions to education.
The solon added that while teachers are often at the forefront of educational improvements, the support staff behind the scenes are equally essential to the success of schools.
