SOLON SEEKS ESTABLISHMENT OF MARINDUQUE SPORTS ACADEMY
MARINDUQUE Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco filed a measure that seeks to establish a sports academy and training center in his province.
In House Bill 34, Velasco aims to create the Marinduque Sports Academy and Training Center to provide essential facilities for the province’s youth so they can pursue their choice of sports.
“This would also give our province the chance to train and hone athletes who could compete in local and international tournaments, thereby bringing honor and glory to our province, and to our country,” Velasco said in his explanatory note.
The establishment of the center is also in line with the promotion of the youth’s development and well-being.
Based on the measure, the facility will be established in Barangay Baliis in the municipality of Sta. Cruz and will serve as primary sports development and training center for the province.
The bill mandates the provincial government of Marinduque, in coordination with the municipal government of Sta. Cruz and the Philippine Sports Commission, to take the necessary steps to integrate the existing sports facilities, equipment and personnel in the province into the newly created sports training center.
