DAVAO Oriental 2nd District Rep. Jose Mayo Almario is pushing for a measure establishing a provincial office of the Commission on Higher Education in Davao Oriental.

In filing House Bill 7447, Almario said the establishment of a CHED Provincial Office in the City of Mati enhances achievement of its mandate to promote quality education that is accessible to all.

This will also bring CHED closer to the 428 technical and vocational institutions and to the Davao Oriental State University, Almario added.

Likewise, coordination among CHED’s stakeholders leading to a more effective and efficient educational system will be easier, faster, and smoother.

“With the increasing enrollments and graduates of tertiary programs and considering the distance barrier, now is the best time to establish a CHED Provincial Office in the City of Mati,” Almario said in his explanatory note.

Under the bill, CHED-Davao Oriental Provincial Office shall have jurisdiction over the said province and shall be headed by a provincial director.

The budget needed to establish the office will be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
