SENATOR Alan Peter Cayetano on Friday challenged the Commission on Higher Education to come up with a “breakthrough legislation” that will propel the quality of education to the next level.
During the plenary deliberations on the proposed 2023 budget, Cayetano said that CHED, in the next six years, has to continue improving the higher education system.
“We want to challenge CHED: Next to UNIFAST, what would be the next earthshaking agency-sponsored legislation that will really help our students not only have access to education, finish their studies, or to get the best opportunities but also to have a brighter future?” Cayetano said.
He pointed out that a quality higher education is an opportunity that should be available to all. He assured CHED that he will continue to support the agency to reach its goals.
Meanwhile, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian thanked CHED for its immediate action on the issue of scholarship grants to three local universities namely Taguig City University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela and Valenzuela Polytechnic College.
Gatchalian said that CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III approved the scholarship grants to these universities and agreed to reimburse the tuition paid by the scholars.
