QC DEFERS OPENING OF CLASSES IN 15 SCHOOLS
DUE to damages sustained by some schools, the Quezon City local government has postponed the opening of classes in 15 schools, according to a Division Memorandum.
In Division Memorandum No. 778, Series of 2024, Mayor Joy Belmonte stated that classes in these public elementary and high schools will not begin on Monday, July 29, due to various reasons.
Betty Go Belmonte Elementary School, Masambong Elementary School, Masambong High School, and Sergio Osmena Sr. High School will begin classes on August 5, as these schools have been damaged due to Typhoon Carina.
Meanwhile, classes in Sto. Cristo Elementary School, Balumbato Elementary School, Cong. Reynaldo Calalay Elementary School, Sinagtala Elementary School, San Francisco Elementary School, Dalupan Elementary School, Diosdado P. Macapagal Elementary School, Rosa L. Susano Elementary School, Odelco Elementary School, Josefa Jara Martinez High School, and Sta. Lucia High School will start on August 1, as these schools are being used as evacuation centers.
Schools with postponed classes will conduct Saturday sessions, the Mayor said.
A total of 143 public elementary and high schools will open on July 29.
“Our schools are well-prepared to welcome students returning to classes on Monday,” Belmonte said.
