THE Department of Education, Department of Trade and Industry and Thames International signed a Memorandum of Agreement on August 1 to strengthen the Work Immersion program and launch the E-Commerce curriculum nationwide.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara, DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual, and Thames International Co-Founder and President Jaime Noel Santos attended the said MOA signing, which aims to create e-commerce-ready graduates through specialized curriculum and work immersion experience.

“Isa ito sa pangunahing utos ng ating mahal na Pangulo na bigyan natin ng trabaho, bigyan natin ng pag-asa ang ating mga kabataan. At bago natin sila mabibigyan ng trabaho, kailangan natin bigyan sila ng karanasan,” Angara said.

He also emphasized the government’s commitment to providing Filipino learners with opportunities for employment and growth.

Pascual, on the other hand, said that DTI has consistently prioritized providing skills to Filipinos to ensure that they will cope with the advancement during this digital era.

“This collaboration to launch the e-commerce track for senior high school students is a testament to our shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of Filipino entrepreneurs and digital leaders. The DTI has consistently prioritized equipping Filipinos with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy,” Pascual said.

The said curriculum will cover topics such as online marketing, digital product development, and customer service. The program will also foster an entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging students to think creatively and innovatively, DTI said.

The program will begin in the National Capital Region, Regions 3 and 4-A, followed by Regions 7 and 12, and will eventually be implemented throughout the country.
