THE OFFICE of the Vice President will deploy the Kalusugan Food Trucks to address malnutrition among schoolchildren.

Norman Baloro, Local Affairs and Special Programs Division chief, said the initiative will help address the nutritional challenges of children in communities.

“The OVP Kalusugan Food Truck seeks to help children suffering from malnutrition, hunger, and poor development,” Baloro said.

The program will be implemented in collaboration with the Department of Education and the Department of Health through the National Nutrition Council.

The food trucks will be deployed in identified schools and institutions, and will follow a 120-day feeding program menu.

Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will each have one food truck.

“We target nine schools in a year (three schools each in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao), considering that 120 days is prescribed by National Nutrition Council,” Baloro said.

“Our food trucks will also serve as mobile kitchen during calamities as part of our disaster operations,” he added.

The three trucks were lent to the OVP under a usufruct agreement until 2028.
