MANILA LGU DISTRIBUTES TVs TO SCHOOLS, LAPTOPS TO TEACHERS
THE MANILA City Government distributed 551 Sony 55-inch television units to public schools and 982 laptops with bags to Kindergarten and Grade 1 teachers across the city’s six congressional districts during a ceremony at the San Andres Sports Complex.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno expressed gratitude to public school teachers, saying their patience and dedication played a significant role in shaping his future.
“Kung hindi kayo nagtiyaga, mga teacher ng Kinder at Grade 1, sa kakulitan ko nung araw, malamang hindi ako Mayor ngayon,” he said.
Moreno described himself as a product of the public education system and said the initiative is his way of giving back to the teachers who helped guide and educate their students.
According to the mayor, the distribution forms part of his administration’s Minimum Basic Needs policy, which prioritizes housing, education, healthcare, and employment as key investments for Manila residents.
Aside from televisions and laptops, the city government also distributed school supplies for learners across all grade levels. These included more than 2.6 million notebooks, over 1.3 million notepads, 66,250 school bags for Kindergarten to Grade 2 pupils, and physical education uniforms for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
