LAWMAKER MOVES TO INSTITUTIONALIZE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF TEACHERS
BATANGAS Rep. Ralph Recto filed a measure that seeks to provide professional training for public school teachers.
House Bill 3175 or the proposed Professional Training for Teachers Act aims to improve the quality of education by providing well-trained and competent teachers.
The measure mandates the integration of a program of professional training for teachers in elementary and high schools.
“Our teachers who provide the education have the ability to shape leaders of the future. Teachers who mold the minds and hearts of the young help build a positive and inspired future generation,” Recto said in his explanatory note.
Under the bill, trainings, seminars and workshop expenses will be free of charge.
These trainings and seminars shall focus on improving, enhancing and updating the methods of teaching to upgrade the competence of teachers.
These shall be conducted before the start and end of the school year.
“It is timely and relevant now to address the challenges brought to our educational system, especially on the quality of our teachers, for the purpose of sustaining effective learning and teaching,” Recto said.
