CAMARINES Sur 3rd District Representative Gabriel Bordado Jr. filed a measure providing for the democratization of Public School Education.

House Bill 6024 or the proposed Public School Democratization Act forbids a public school official, principal, faculty, teacher or employee from refusing the admission of any student in a primary or secondary public school. It also aims to guarantee access to educational facilities for all Filipino children who are bona fide residents of a town or city where such school or facilities are located.

“Therefore, ensuring easier access to education for everyone, regardless of gender, socio-economic background, or other factors, is the first step in pursuing this mandate,” Bordado said in his explanatory note.

“Access to education should remain unhindered for all Filipinos,” the lawmaker added.

Once enacted into law, any public school official, principal, faculty, teacher, or employee who violates any provision will be punished with one month suspension from service and fined with P5,000 for the first offense. He or she will be dismissal from service and disqualified from holding public office for a period of six months for the second offense. Third offense will mean dismissal from service and perpetual disqualification to hold public office.
