HOUSE OKS MEASURE PROMOTING INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
THE HOUSE of Representatives approved a measure that promotes inclusive education, entrepreneurship and employment for sustainable development among Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps adult beneficiaries.
House Bill 8497 aims to amend Republic Act 11310 or the Act institutionalizing the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and address issues in the current social protection and welfare programs.
1-PACMAN Party-list Representative Michael Romero said the proposed revisions to the existing law also include cash grants to subsidize the cost of transportation and meals of the adult beneficiaries when they pursue further education, entrepreneurship or employment.
“If we are able to shepherd the passage of this bill, we increase the indigent adults’ capability to be educated and trained, which in turn will increase their chances of being employed or putting up their own business,” Romero said.
Agri Party-list Rep. Wilbert Lee, one of the bill’s principal author, said that HB 8497 is a beneficial investment in the people.
Lee explained that this will help Filipino youth study, become self-sufficient, graduate from the 4Ps Program which has a seven-year maximum duration, and help break the intergenerational cycle of poverty.
