THE DEPARTMENT of Education is strongly recommending the expansion of limited face-to-face classes amid the Covid19 pandemic.

DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan stressed the point after an initial assessment of the agency on the pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes, convincing them pushing for the expansion of physical classes.

The official added the positive reaction of the stakeholders reflects the high level of student attendance and their sense of safety on campus.

Malaluan also said teaching and learning process in face-to-face classes received a high rating.

“With the results of the pilot implementation, we will strongly recommend the progressive expansion of face-to-face classes even under the present situation, but subject to the alert levels and developments in (the) Covid19 situation,” Malaluan said.

Meanwhile, DepEd will provide President Duterte a report on the trial run of face-to-face classes, as well as recommendation for its extension.

However, for now, classes have been suspended in some areas as several students and teachers either tested positive for Covid19 or have been experiencing flu-like symptoms.

On Saturday, the country registered a new single-record tally of 39,004 new Covid19 cases.
