Michael Poa, DepEd spokesperson, said that the agency is eyeing a permanent blended learning option.
“We presented yung ating plano to institutionalize blended learning, for example, in the Philippines, as a permanent mode of delivery. We feel that alongside yung traditional solutions natin of hiring more teachers, building more classrooms, to address the shortages, hindi po kasi mabilis, o hindi po yan nagagawa overnight, that’s why these problems are still with us today,” Poa said.
Meanwhile, he said that reverting to the previous school calendar will take three years before it can be implemented.
“If we decide to go back, it won’t happen this year. In fact from the findings given to me, it would take at least 3 to around 5 years ideally…because we have to maintain a certain number of school days,” he explained.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian earlier called for the return of the old school calendar to allow students to have their break in April and May.
