DEPED DELETES ERRONEOUS MUSIC LESSON VIDEO

/ 3 January 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Education on Friday deleted one of its Music YouTube videos after netizens pointed out an error in the lesson.

Uploaded on December 21, 2020, the video teaches how to count rhythmic patterns in relation to the time signature 4/4.

On one instance, the presenter clapped four times on a whole note instead of one, making the rhythm into quarter notes, which are usually counted by 4 in one bar or measure.

The presenter also denoted the time signature as “four-fourths” instead of “four-four” or common time.

The video was deleted on January 1 but it has since made rounds on social media.

Last year, netizens also pointed out an error in a math problem, prompting the Education department to issue an apology.

That incident was one of the reasons behind the launch of the #DepEdErrorWatch initiative to curb mistakes in learning materials.
