THE DEPARTMENT of Education (DepEd) lauded the provincial government of Agusan del Sur for its “Libreng Sakay” transportation program and complimentary tourism activities for delegates of the 66th Palarong Pambansa.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara commended Agusan del Sur officials, led by Governor Santiago Cane Jr., for ensuring convenient mobility and meaningful experiences for the thousands of athletes, coaches, teachers, and spectators expected to participate in the national sporting event from May 24 to 31.

“Nakakatuwa na itong Palaro natin ay isa ring pagkakataon para maranasan ng ating mga kabataan ang malasakit, kultura, at ganda ng iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa. Sa pamamagitan ng Libreng Sakay at libreng tours ng Agusan del Sur, mas nagiging magaan, masaya, at makabuluhan ang karanasan ng ating mga atleta at delegado,” Angara said.

Under the province’s transportation program, delegates and spectators may avail themselves of free rides through designated e-buses and tricycles stationed across 36 playing venues in Bayugan City and the municipalities of Bunawan, Esperanza, Talacogon, Prosperidad, and San Francisco.

Organizers said the initiative aims to make travel between venues “easier, safer, and more convenient” for participants throughout the week-long national games.

Apart from free transportation, delegates may also join complimentary tours to several tourist destinations and cultural landmarks across Agusan del Sur and neighboring Surigao del Sur.

Among the featured destinations are Tugonan Falls, Bega Falls and Ecotourism Park, Puting Buhangin Cave, Agusan Provincial Museum, Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, Toog Centennial Tree, and various eco-tourism and agricultural sites across the province.
