THE DEPARTMENT of Education is addressing the appeal of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers for additional monthly internet allowance, Malacañang said on Tuesday.
THE DEPARTMENT of Education is addressing the appeal of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers for additional monthly internet allowance, Malacañang said on Tuesday.
“Unang-una po nagkusa na ang DepEd para magka-dialogue sa leaders ng ACT, isa ito sa pinag-uusapan. So, hintayin natin ano mapagkakasunduan sa panig ng DepEd at ACT leaders,” Palace Spokesman Harry Roque said in a press briefing.
On Monday, ACT claimed that some teachers complained that 1GB per day is not enough for the conduct of their online classes.
Instead of SIM cards, the group urged the education department to release a P1,500 monthly internet subsidy.
The DepEd in August distributed the first cycle of monthly load for 277,381 teachers and non-teaching personnel.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones said that each teacher or personnel will receive a total of 102 gigabytes of data that will be rationed over three months at 34 GB per month.
Briones noted that an additional 4GB per month is provided for open data access to allow teachers to use other apps online.
The unused data will be rolled over after the third month and will be loaded as 1GB per day until all data allocations are consumed.
