THE COMMISSION on Higher Education will provide scholarships once it rolls out a hybrid master’s degree for nurses.

CHED said that the master’s degree will be short to address the shortage of qualified nursing teachers.

“Kapag ni-launch namin ito, may kaakibat na scholarship mula sa CHED. Handa na tayo diyan, na magbigay ng scholarship doon sa mga faculty na gustong makatapos ng kanilang master’s,” CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III said.

“We can offer these scholarships this coming school year,” De Vera added.

He said that CHED will subsidize the tuition and miscellaneous fees.

He added that the aim is to produce world-class nurses, that is why they have been linking nursing schools in universities abroad.

“Ibig sabihin, ‘yung curriculum, ‘yung laman ng tinuturo sa ating top nursing schools na ni-link natin sa universities [abroad], ang kanilang curriculum ay siguradong world-class,” De Vera said.
