CHED TO FIELD STUDENTS AND PERSONNEL FROM HEIs FOR MANPOWER SUPPORT TO COMELEC
THE COMMISSION on Elections and the Commission on Higher Education have signed a memorandum of agreement to deploy students and personnel from higher educational institutions as additional manpower for the 2025 National and Local Elections.
CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III committed to providing information technology manpower support to the poll body.
“I guarantee the skills and competence of the people from our HEIs across the country. We are continuously providing them with opportunities for upskilling and reskilling,” De Vera said.
Under the MOA, HEI students and personnel will serve as Manpower Technical Support Personnel and Certified Coding Specialist Technicians for the 2025 elections.
Qualified students and personnel will undergo training with Comelec to acquire the necessary technical skills for the electoral process.
“I am confident that their skills and knowledge are up to date with new technologies and they will be able to adapt to the pressures of the election process,” De Vera added.
Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia also expressed confidence in the partnership, saying that academic institutions are the best partners in ensuring the integrity of the 2025 elections.
“By partnering with CHED and our higher education institutions, we ensure the credibility and integrity of the electoral process,” Garcia said.
