BOC DONATES GADGETS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO DEPED
YOUNG learners in remote areas will benefit from the school supplies donated by the Bureau of Customs to the Department of Education.
The school bags, children’s books, shoes, and e-learning materials will be for the Last Mile Schools program of DepEd, according to Education Secretary Leonor Briones.
“This batch of donation is especially significant for me. I am so delighted that you have backpacks, that you are distributing books in spite of all the advances, the technology. As per the shoes, you cannot imagine how precious these shoes are in places where kids are just wearing slippers or they go barefoot,” Briones said.
“You are helping us to continue education, despite everything, despite all the challenges, we continue our work, you raised the resources, we nurture our children, and together we will triumph,” she added.
Briones shared that the first batch of the donated e-learning gadgets had been distributed in various schools.
The signing of the deed of donation and acceptance was led by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.
“We hope that this donation will help in filling-up the needs of our teachers and students for this materials especially in the countrysides,” Guerrero said.
