EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara visited Leyte National High School in Tacloban City for a consultative meeting with stakeholders Monday (11 Nov 2024).
“We’re here for our monthly ManCom (Management Committee) meeting with the regional directors… it’s also an opportunity to check on our schools, divisions, and facilities as well,” Angara said during his visit.
The Education Secretary engaged with students, parents, and teachers to better understand their needs.
Leyte National High School is the largest secondary school in Eastern Visayas, currently serving 8,954 learners.
The Department of Education also visited St. Francis Elementary School, which was severely impacted by Typhoon Yolanda in 2013. The school is now facing gaps in facilities and classrooms, as it is currently housing 547 learners in Temporary Learning Spaces.
The Secretary assured that the Department would provide full support not only to St. Francis Elementary but also to schools across the region.
