AROUND 532 students of the Mindanao State University-General Santos City campus were given assistance under the cash-for-work program of the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The said activity was an initiative of Senator Imee Marcos.
It was learned that 476 of the beneficiaries were from MSU-General Santos City Campus while the rest were from South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat.
DSWD-12 Regional Director Loreto Cabaya Jr. said each beneficiary received P5,000 during the payout at the university campus.
While the cash aid aims to augment the needs of students, Cabaya said the fund assistance is a temporary intervention for fresh graduates still looking for jobs.
Alliah Jean Abordo, a 23-year-old Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering graduate, cited the program, saying it has helped her gain experience while assigned at the Polomolok Municipal Nursery in South Cotabato.
Cabaya said beneficiaries are again set to work in their communities for 90 days and will be paid P390 per day.
