45,715 EDUCATION WORKERS GET CASH AID FROM DOLE
OVER 45,000 education workers from private and public schools have benefited from the Covid19 Adjustment Measures Program, the Department of Labor and Employment said.
Rolly Francia, DOLE’s Information and Publication Service director, said that 45,715 education personnel, including teachers, received financial assistance from the agency amounting to P228 million.
Each beneficiary received P5,000.
The program has a total budget of P300 million.
“According to the Bureau of Local Employment, the program manager for CAMP for education, over P228 million have been given to 45,715 people both private and public in the teaching profession,” Francia said.
The announcement came after Senator Sherwin Gatchalian questioned the alleged slow distribution of cash aid to teachers and non-teaching personnel who were affected by the pandemic.
Francia reported that 14,000 more workers from the education sector will benefit from the program.
“The funds have been given to the beneficiaries. There’s a balance of P62 million. There are no more takers, no more applicants but we are ready to dispose of the funds,” he said.
