SENATOR Panfilo Lacson believes that moving people away from cities will resolve the traffic problem in Metro Manila.

Lacson said his plans to decongest the National Capital Region are tied to his Budget Reform Advocacy for Village Empowerment or BRAVE policy agenda.

BRAVE is one of the flagship legislative proposals of Lacson, which aims to infuse better public funding for community development projects to be facilitated by the local government units and villages.

Through BRAVE, Lacson explained, Filipinos will have more options to build a better life anywhere in the Philippines, making their frequent complaints about traffic a thing of the past.

“Karugtong na ‘yon pag-ayos ng traffic ng village empowerment e. Kasi pagka nag-disburse ka ng resources ng gobyerno at naging developed, nagkaroon ng livelihood sa mga malalayong lugar ay natural lang na mag-aalisan ang mga tao,” he explained.

Lacson indicated that he is not enthusiastic about adding more infrastructure projects in Metro Manila since it already has too many layers of skyways.

“Kasi madaling sabihin na ide-decongest natin, infrastructure, e wala na tayong paglalagyan. Naka-ilang layers na, malaking tulong na nga ‘yung interconnector,” he said, referring to the NLEX-SLEX connector road project of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
