USTP STUDENTS WIN AT NATIONAL IP COMPETITION

UNIVERSITY of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines students excelled at the IP Circle League National Competition held in Taguig City, earning accolades for their creativity and advocacy for intellectual property rights.

In the Ad Competition, Data Science students Kein Jake Culanggo, Nicole Menorias, and Hernel Niño Juanico won 1st runner-up with their campaign, “No Ship Too Small – Let’s Sail Together Towards a Sustainable Future.”

The campaign featured sunray motifs inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing global cooperation and the importance of data in driving impactful decisions for sustainability.

In the Story Competition, Technology Communication Management students earned 2nd runner-up for their short film “Larawan,” which explored the struggles of a man with schizophrenia accused of plagiarism, sparking conversations on IP ethics and mental health.

Organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines through its IP Academy Division, the competition provided a platform to showcase talent in storytelling, design, debates, and quizzes while deepening students’ understanding of intellectual property.
