UST PROFESSOR NAMED OUTSTANDING CPA IN EDUCATION
A PROFESSOR from the University of Santo Tomas was named the 2020 Outstanding Certified Public Accountant in Education by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Assistant Professor Antonio Dayag of the Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy received the recognition for his outstanding achievements and distinguished performance as a lecturer, educator, author, and CPA reviewer.
“Asst. Prof. Dayag was acknowledged for being a valuable contributor and focal person in various accounting education programs, committees, and institutions that merited him numerous citations and recognitions in the academe; for his exceptional leadership and significant involvement in numerous activities and advocacies geared towards the advancement of the accountancy profession, such as PICPA Education Sector and nACPAE; and for his continuous participation in various capacities in the projects of PICPA,” UST said in its website.
Dayag teaches Cost Accounting and Management Advisory Services at the university, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting, his master’s in business administration, and his doctorate in commerce.
He was also UST’s Chief Accountant from 1999-2005 and served as a member of the budget, hospitalization, tuition fee, and computerization committees.
The university also conferred on Dayag the UST-AMV Alumni Association Accountancy Achiever Award and a service award for his continued teaching.
Dayag also co-authored books in Cost Accounting in 1999 and authored “CPA Reviewer in Practical Accounting 2” and “Advanced Financial Accounting & Reporting” since 2002.
