USC PHARMACY STUDENTS WIN IN INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH CONGRESS
TWO fourth year Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy students of University San Carlos placed second for best oral presentation in the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations Congress 2022.
Sophia Pagaran and Bea May Remedio presented results of their undergraduate thesis entitled, “Pharmacokinetics of Loratadine after Intranasal Application of its Gel Formulation” under the guidance of their adviser, Gerard Lee L. See, R.Ph., Ph.D., SRPharmS.
The students’ presentations mostly highlighted the differences between loratadine taken intravenously and intranasally in terms of its pharmacokinetic properties.
They discovered that loratadine incorporation may be helpful for patients with disorders affecting the nasal mucosa because of its improved bioavailability, practical dose and uncomplicated administration.
The FAPA Congress is a biennial convention of its members from the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and Western Pacific Region.
It is a platform where participants can exchange knowledge, highlight recent advancements or discoveries, learn new tactics and establish connections with pharmacists from other countries.
