UPLB IMPLEMENTS TWO-WEEK ACADEMIC BREAK
TO HELP the community cope with distance learning, the University of the Philippines Los Baños will implement a two-week academic ease.
The break will be from February 8 to 18.
There will be no synchronous, asynchronous learning sessions and deadlines during the furlough.
The change of matriculation period is extended until February 24 while the registration period and payment of fees will be until March 4.
“In the spirit of UPLB being a caring university, imbued with the values of honor, excellence, and compassion, we recognize the critical balance between performing our tri-function (instruction, research, and public service) and ensuring the safety and wellness of our human resources and University’s constituents,” UPLB Chancellor Jose Camacho Jr. said.
“It is in this light that we are easing into the upcoming semester in consideration of the recent UP System guidelines,” he added.
To give professors space and time to recover, all academic heads were directed to avoid faculty meetings, assignments, submissions, and emails to all teaching staff during the break.
Learners were also encouraged to refrain from sending emails to faculty members and staff “unless the matter needs immediate attention.”
Last month, student groups from the UP System called on the administration to move the opening of the second semester of Academic Year 2021-2022 following the devastation wrought by Typhoon Odette and spike in Covid19 cases.
