UP DILIMAN ISSUES CLASS SUSPENSION GUIDELINES ON REMOTE LEARNING
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Office of the Chancellor released its suspension guidelines for storm signals during remote learning.
The guidelines were issued following the recent spate of typhoons in the country that disrupted online classes.
In the directive of UPD Chancellor Fidel R. Nemenzo under OC Memorandum No. FRN-20-058, it said guidelines should be applied with consideration ‘for the students’ place of residence, or where they have chosen to participate in synchronous or asynchronous classes’.
As per the same directive, online synchronous classes during storm signal no. 1 are suspended due to internet connectivity issues caused by the typhoon.
For storm signal no. 2, synchronous classes are also suspended and faculty is requested to be considerate to its students and postpone submission deadlines and flexibility in submitting requirements.
Meanwhile, for storm signal no. 3 and above, both synchronous and asynchronous classes are suspended due to internet connectivity issues, and possible power and telecommunication service interruptions.
However, local government can suspend classes during typhoons and other natural calamities.
Recently, there have been suspensions of synchronous and asynchronous classes due to typhoons Pepito and Quinta.
