SILLIMAN U WINS 1ST RUNNER-UP IN REGIONAL AI PITCHING TILT

THE College of Computer Studies of the Silliman University secured first runner-up at the recently concluded 4th Ai.Deas for Impact: AI for Innovation and Social Impact Regional AI Pitching Competition.

Led by Asst. Prof. Joy M. Dy and Asst. Prof. Jonathan Mark N. Te, the CCS team named “Agriflow”, included sophomores John Stanley T. Altonaga, Larly Rose T. Catian, Lanz Alexander I. Malto, Jon Patric A. Garganian, and Marc Warren C. Partosa.
Their project focused on revolutionizing agricultural irrigation with AI technologies, aiming to optimize water management and boost crop yields.

The competition featured seven institutions from Central Visayas, with Holy Name University winning the championship and the University of San Carlos taking 2nd Runner-up.

Other participants included Foundation University, St. Paul’s University Dumaguete, Metro Dumaguete College Inc., and University of San Jose-Recoletos.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology Region 7, supported by the ICT Industry Development Bureau and the Analytics & AI Association of the Philippines, hosted the event.

The Ai.Deas for Impact workshop series, part of DICT-IIDB’s SET PH program, aims to empower young talents and connect them with investors. The final workshop will be held in Legazpi City on July 30-31, 2024.
