SILLIMAN U STUDENTS BAG AWARDS IN APPSAM TILT
ELEMENTARY students from Silliman University bagged major prizes in four categories at the 11th National Children’s Assembly and Talent Fair organized by the Association of Philippine Private School Administrators and Mentors.
Aalliyah Kate Encabo secured 1st place and 2nd place in Interpretive Reading and Extemporaneous Speaking, respectively
Adriel Wade Rivera won second place in the Mathematics Contest, while Denmarie Batarasa, clinched third place in Madamdaming Pagbasa.
“This was SUES’ first time joining a national congress and competition after the pandemic, so it
was a great joy for me to see my students participate and excel outside the classroom,” Harel Jo Tia, the learners’ coach, said.
“It was an experience of a lifetime for them, something they wouldn’t get inside the four walls of a classroom,” she added.
Seven students of SU participated in eight events including the Mathematics Contest, Science Contest, General Information, Spelling, Essay Writing, Extemporaneous Speaking, Interpretative Reading, and Madamdaming Pagbasa.
Tia, Maria Amelia Calumpang, and Venancia Nuico accompanied the students.
The event seeks to bring together junior and senior high school students for a dynamic learning experience.
It features various plenary speakers who impart valuable insights, equipping the students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the challenges they may face as emerging student leaders.
