SAMAR STATE U STUDENT RECEIVES FULLBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP
A STUDENT of Samar State University received a scholarship grant from the Global Undergraduate Program of Fulbright, a program administered by the Philippine-American Educational Foundation and sponsored by the United States.
Andrea Faye Mendoza, a 3rd year Education student, said that studying in the US was a dream come true.
“There will be ups and downs but towards the end, the victory is sweet. The world is so big and it is waiting for all of us to see,” she said.
Mendoza dedicated her achievement to her parents, family, the university, and the people who motivated her to attain her dreams.
She is affiliated with WEDU Rising Star, a social enterprise which provides high potential to young women from Asian communities.
Mendoza is also a member of Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative. It is a program to strengthen leadership development and networking in Southeast Asia.
“Excited to test her communication skills with native speakers and her command in the English language, Ms. Andrea will be enrolled full-time for one semester to a non-degree undergraduate course from the existing curriculum of a host US college or university,” SSU said.
“She’ll be exposed to US society, culture, and academic institutions and will be required to participate in 20 hours of community service,” it added.
