STUDENTS from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines won in the 11th Mahalta Cup held in Calapan City this month.

The Mahalta Cup is the premier debate league organized by the Oriental Mindoro Debate Society annually.

BS Psychology student Haven Mosquito, along with Franco Novenario and Elijah Parial, bested over 80 debaters, 27 teams, and 30 adjudicators.

“It was very fun. The experience was very tiring, but we’re very satisfied as well. Nakaabot ako last year nu’ng Mahalta Cup X sa semi-finals lang, so this is my redemption arc siguro. I was able to make it to the Grand Finals and take the cup,” Mosquito said.

Mosquito’s team received P12,000 cash prize.

“We are glad that our first-year debaters are competitive and taking every opportunity to test their mettle. We hope to see more PUPians join our School of Debaters and appreciate the art of varsity debating,” Dr. Sanjay Claudio, SOD adviser, said.
