PUP PSYCH STUDENTS WARN ABOUT DANGER OF MULTI-TASKING

/ 1 November 2020

THE Polytechnic University of the Philippines Psychology Students Association warned learners that multi-tasking doesn’t always work effectively.

Neuroscience researchers, according to the PUPSCA, determined that a person’s brain can’t function well if one is doing multi-tasking as attention is limited and selective.

“Do you think that you could do more by doing less? Think again, love! According to neuroscience researchers, our brain can’t function well if we are doing things at once! If you keep on pushing yourself to do different tasks at once, it can really stress you out,” the association said on its Facebook page.

“The more you attempt to accomplish different tasks at once, the more you get stressed out and end up performing unsatisfactorily. Our attention is limited and selective; therefore, one should focus on accomplishing one particular task at a time and avoid switching from one task to another frequently (Cherry, 2020),” it added.

The group also reminded to be always mindful of its tasks and inhibit proper time management to do tasks one at a time as education shifts to distance learning due to Covid19 pandemic.

“Reminder! Always be mindful and use time management! Do and finish things at once so you could focus effectively,” it said.
