PUP DISTRIBUTES 2.6K LITERS OF ETHYL ALCOHOL

/ 12 April 2021

THE RESEARCH Institute for Science and Technology of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines distributed ethyl alcohol  to members of its community and its adopted villages.

The university said that more than 2,600 liters of ethyl alcohol were distributed to the PUP community and 24 barangays.

“RIST has previously produced ethyl alcohol to meet the increased demand for disinfectants during the Covid19 outbreak in 2020. On March 8, RIST started the initial production of ethyl alcohol with virgin coconut oil through the funding from the Commission on Higher Education,” PUP said.

The initiative was made possible with the help of Extension Management Office director Prof. Zandro Estrella and Publication Office director Dr. Angelina Borican.

RIST Director Dr. Armin Coronado said the university also intends to distribute alcohol in hospitals and police departments.

Coronado added that they added VCO because of its anti-viral properties.

He gave assurances that the PUP’s version of ethyl alcohol followed the requirements and standards of the Food and Drug Administration.
