PUP CONDUCTS RELIEF OPERATIONS FOR FAMILIES IN RIZAL

/ 24 December 2020

THE COLLEGE of Education of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines conducted relief operations for hundreds of families in Montalban, Rizal who were affected by the recent calamities.

“Through generous cash and in-kind donations from private individuals and concerned faculty members, the relief initiative raised several packs of groceries, sacks of clothing, blankets, toiletries, and other necessary items, which were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare Department of Montalban last December 19, 2020,” the college said.

It coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Health Facilities Development Bureau of the Department of Health to acquire medicines, face masks, face shields, and hygiene materials for the typhoon victims.

“This is an effort by the college to realize its responsibility to communities through its extension and outreach activities. The collective will of a few people propelled this effort, that is why it greatly spread like wildfire to others,” Dr. Ma.  Junithesmer Rosales, dean of the College of Education, said.

The donation drive is a joint project of the College of Education Extension Office and Faculty Club.

Dr. Manolito San Jose, chief of the College of Education Extension Office and interim Faculty Club president, said that the college continues to partner with other organizations to reach more typhoon-stricken areas this Christmas season.
