PANGASINAN STATE U SHARES TIPS ON HOW TO SPOT FAKE NEWS

/ 14 February 2021

TO HELP curb the spread of misinformation, the Pangasinan State University shared tips on how to spot fake news.

Echoing the advice of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, PSU urged readers to consider the source of the material, read beyond the headline, check the author, supporting sources, and the date.

Readers should also discern if the material is a joke, and if their own biases affect their judgment to distinguish what is fake or real.

The university said people should ask experts when they are in doubt about the legitimacy of an article.

It urged members of its community to subscribe to PSU’s official Facebook page for university updates.

“To ensure genuine news and updates related to our University activities and programs, ONLY subscribe to the official FB page of PSU – Pangasinan State University,” PSU said on Facebook.
