KCAST DISMISSES PROFESSOR ACCUSED OF VIOLATING STUDENT’S RIGHTS
THE KAPALONG Colleges of Agriculture Sciences and Technology has dismissed the professor accused of violating a student’s rights.
Oliver Mercado reportedly degraded and flunked a student for not following instructions. The case became viral on social media.
KCAST clarified that the issue was addressed even before it exploded on the internet.
It said that the college does not tolerate actions such as swearing and insulting students.
“Regarding the welfare of the student involved, we will make sure to provide necessary intervention to alleviate whatever moral damage this may have incurred to the student and to the family,” the school said in a statement.
The National Union of Students of the Philippines-Davao commended KCAST for its immediate action.
“We hope that nothing like this will ever happen again,” the group said.
“We are urging students to assert our right and report any repressive actions done by the school administration or even from the state itself,” it added.
